“BEEP BEEP BEEP”
waste(?) assemblages
A collaborative series created by Hannah Berry and Kayla Flett for BETA by STH BnK from Jul 2022 - Mar 2023.
Re/Space at BETA by Sth Bnk is a forever evolving space that challenges what and how traditional brick-and-motar spaces can look and function. The space is created entirely from construction waste from the pre-existing life of Hanover House(HH). Each level of HH previously housed a different independent commercial entity including office spaces and international trading companies. Upon leaving HH the humans walked out and left literal mountains of detritus. This plethora of different materials would usually be destined for landfill in the re-development of a property. In navigating the mountain of these materials at BETA, Kayla and Hannah were particularly interested in creating impermanent assembled structures that could constantly evolve. This space was rein-visioning a future where ‘waste(?)’ is used as a valued resource, through shifting social perspective and industry value systems.
